It's a long-standing forum bug: preview fails to properly HTML-encode the submitted characters, so the browser translates them.

Workaround: before previewing, copy the entire text. Every time you land on the preview page, paste the original text before applying any changes. That way, you'll be certain to post the same text that you were previewing.
