Actually NO.
I paste filespec (from ZTreeWin) into the dialog box, except in those few programs which don't support them.

I agree with you that these are frustrating, time wasting, inconvenient and generally a PITA. I can't understand how millions of Windows users put up with them.

Unless you can convince Microsoft to do this, you are out of luck.
These are API, which are part of Windows - which is why they are always the same.
Actually, if you are a masochist, you can write you own File Open Dialog, but that is only available to your own code.
It would not be impossible to patch the OS, but this is unlikely to happen.
You apparently have no idea what happens when you press a button in Windows.
This sends a message, and you have to include code in your program to handle this.
