TextPad fill block   [Q]

You can do this without macros:
1.) Configure Word Wrap off if not yet done (Configure menu)
2.) Configure Block select mode (again Configure menu)
3.) While pressing shift select a block at the beginning of all lines (with zero column width).
4.) With Edit/Fill Block you can now insert characters in your block

This is very convenient because you can easily select the place where characters should be inserted.
