This is not a new idea, although it predates the support for junctions.
http://www.ztw3.com/forum/forum_entry.php?id=52767 (my first ZEP - although I had never heard of the term then).
Since then I discovered Alternate Configurations, which allow me to open a new instance which allows full access when required. I have Application Menus to do this (these can be found on the Forum).
In practice I allow access, but hide directories which are forbidden or of no interest (using ZNOLIG.INI) although I still use Alternate Configurations to allow full access for backup etc.
To allow this as a runtime option would require ZTreeWin to log everything, and hide the unwanted items or to perform a total system rescan on change. Depending on the current implementation this may be a significant change. (Am I beginning to sound like Michael?)
