No idea, I'm not using FTP; I just mentioned it as a possibility.

I grabbed a 32GB HP TouchPad a year and a half ago, during the famous
HP fire sale for about 120E, but, surprisingly, my son bought a 16GB one two weeks
ago for 160E (with lost of accessories), so he could have something larger than
his iPhone on a trip to UK. I'm glad he's freeing himself from the iSect on his
own. The Touchpads are really high quality and cost a fortune to manufacture:

and are still surprisingly hi-tech to accommodate Jelly Bean just fine! They
come with webOS, but you never go back once you flash Android on it.

Yes, but file management is not an activity you spend a lot of time on.
By the way, on Android I use the ES File Explorer which has local, LAN and
FTP modes and is just fine for basic file management.

Agreed, but since I don't do any heavy file management on Android devices,
Explorer is really OK. For example, to move your new photos/videos, just drag and
drop your DCIM folder over to the PC. If you create any other content, then
it's more work, but today everything should be synced to the cloud anyway. Or shared
via Evernote to appear on all your devices instantly.

> Haha, me too. I just got some of my family to start reading on (Android!) devices.

I bought my 92 year old mother an Archos 70 Internet Tablet two years ago. These
devices are the best present you can imagine for seniors -- their whole life
can be stored there: thousands of scanned family photos in the Gallery, hundreds of
songs they like in Music, tons of books to read, sudoku and other mind challenging
games, a piano keyboard, finger painting, and other creative activities.
Teaching them Skype and using Gmail is not impossible either, adding a social
dimension that is so important at that age.

Tablets are revolutionary and instantly addictive and fun/useful from ages 2-102 :-)
