ok - thanks again.

So is it necessary to include the double quotes?? e.g.

start "" notepad.exe filename

I thought I had read somewhere that you should include them.

BTW
I discovered an interesting (or other more derogatory adjectives) find with Excel.

The Title shows as:

"filename - Microsoft Excel"

but the actual Title you have to filter on is:

"Microsoft Excel - filename"

I wasted much time trying to find this and only when I hovered over the Taskbar entry did I find required format !!

Typical M$

Thanks,

Neil
