I vaguely remember having to deal with one user who used this setting. Very confusing if you're not used to it, and I have a vague memory of some inconsistencies or problems with it. It was a long time ago - Windows NT.
My problem might have been that if I wanted to delete something, I would click on it to select it, then press Delete ...
I think it would feel natural on a touch screen.
