Another alternative is NoteTab [www.notetab.com]. Although it tops out at 2GB, it features a builtin script engine that is actually a full-featured programming language. The scripts are called "clips" and may be invoked by user specified, clickable icons in a "clipbar". It also integrates Perl, GAWK and PCRE RegEx. External programs can be invoked by the clips and their output directed to the editor. Many of us have large clip libraries that we have written over the years and could not live without today. Since clips can also be invoked via the command line, it integrates well with ZTree's F9 menu system. There is a freeware version as well as standard and pro versions ($40 for pro and std bundle).

It is one of my two essential, must have, always loaded programs. The other being ZTree.
