Thanks for responding.

I suspected as much. Putting the name first seems like a bad design decision. Even with short file names the path cold easily exceed the field width.

I got this as a freebie from one of the give away sites last year and since it supported both gzip and tar I thought it might be an alternate for Oliver. Nothing else about it seems outstanding or is not available elsewhere so no need to expend any effort. The GUI version has builtin viewers for a lot of file types but doesn't easily follow the archive tree as well as the 7z GUI app does. Good for viewing, not so good for extracting.
