In Response to: [ZEP] File Spec Extension Selection (Slobodan Vujnovic)

I'm leaving this intact, it dates from 2005...

Sorting by size and recognizing groups of files
with equal sizes is a good thing to do from time to
time. Just by glancing, one can guess fairly easily
if there are real duplicates to get rid of. Here is
what I found in my ZTree directory. I had to use
Shift+NumMinus to hide unique-sized files, ie, "orphans"
that are in a group by themselves:

My Computer .lnk 100
Network Neighborhood .lnk 100
Recycle Bin .lnk 100
-----------------------------------------------------
GETVAR .BAT 115
ICO .BAT 115
-----------------------------------------------------
Control Panel .lnk 120
Dial-Up Networking .lnk 120
PRINTERS .LNK 120
-----------------------------------------------------
ZTW .ICO 766
ZTW1 .ICO 766
ZTW2 .ICO 766
-----------------------------------------------------
ZC .lnk 849
ZLIST .ZLS 849
-----------------------------------------------------
ZMAPDM .NTX 2,048
ZMAPOS .NTX 2,048
-----------------------------------------------------
slo .zdb 196,025
ZTW_MENU .DA$ 196,025
ZTW_MENU .DAT 196,025
-----------------------------------------------------
ZTW .HLP 340,369
ZTW_200411021726 .HLP 340,369
ZTW_200412211000 .HLP 340,369
ZTW_200501061403 .HLP 340,369
ZTW_200502111015 .HLP 340,369
-----------------------------------------------------
ZTW_200406231529 .EXE 729,088
ZTW_200408191747 .EXE 729,088
ZTW_200409211503 .EXE 729,088
ZTW_200410061451 .EXE 729,088
-----------------------------------------------------
ZTW_200410201434 .EXE 733,184
ZTW_200411021726 .EXE 733,184
ZTW_200412211000 .EXE 733,184
-----------------------------------------------------
ztw .exe 737,280
ZTW_200501061403 .EXE 737,280
ZTW_200502111015 .EXE 737,280

Of course, stuff like .ICO or .LNK is of no interest,
but for many files it is obvious that they are related
and, possibly, identical in content, thus candidates for
cleanup.

This may sound like a ZEP/FC to someone, but imagine
an option when sorting by name, extension, size, or date
(all of these *group* files) to hide files that are
in a group by themselves (orphans). This would give
the output like above, without having to hide files
manually.

I have implemented something similar on VMS, to quickly
collapse certain views in FW.
