I can see how frustrating it would be to have to enter those combinations manually.
Another way to do it would be to enter the filter *AAA*.*, tag the displayed files, then enter the filter *BBB*.*, then press Control+Enter to show just the tagged matching files. That should give you the same result.
Rather that change things as you've described in your ZEP, maybe it would be simpler to add a new kind of filter operand that can AND the matches. E.g.
*AAA*.*,*BBB*.* shows any files containing AAA OR BBB
*AAA*.*+*BBB*.* shows any files containing AAA AND BBB
