Improving the behavior of double asterisks on the Filter input line [Zeta]

When pressing the F5 Fuzzy filter key, "double asterisks" will appear on the Filter input line, in place of each "double space", or each comma, when either is inadvertently present.

With double asterisks present -- (which are generally unexpected, and often not immediately obvious) --, pressing the Enter key results in: "Error: Invalid filter".

It would be helpful to change this this behavior, to immediately "combine" each pair of adjacent asterisks on the Filter input line, into a single asterisk, when the Enter key is pressed -- so this error would not occur, and the filter would simply work as intended.
