From the Help File secrion 1.3.4:

By default the Active mode is disabled. When disabled, you can use Shift-A
through Shift-Z to move the highlight bar to the next logged directory or
file name that begins with a specified letter. Likewise, pressing a numeric
key (0 through 9) will jump to the next logged directory or file beginning
with that number.

With active spell the second letter you press is added to the search string. So Pressing Shift-P twice would take you to a directory starting with PP
