According to the help file, Ztree reads the registry for the CPU type and EnableHexNumpad, so there are precedents for it.

Unless that setting was the default, it wouldn't save the user much time compared to choosing the setting they want. People who use portable Ztree would probably prefer to set it themselves so it doesn't change according to the machine they're running on.
