AA=
cmd /? says
/A causes the output of internal commands to a pipe or file to be ANSI
now i begin to think AA= is a bug and a lie that they didnt do anything about it past nearly 20 years. i think i wasted my life on this trying to figure it out
because for some reason i tried below just for the heck of it. and i got this
cmd /u /c works
and it works as simply as it was supposed to, now zlist can use it.
cmd /u /c ECHO T="%1"> DD.ZLS works. it is the unicode, 00 ansi 00 ansi 00 ansi 00 ansi ... goes on like this.
all of sudden, OEM2ANSI.exe is not needed anymore.
and i must be extremely careful with an OEM editor from now on, because the corruption is too deadly.
