Thanks for clarifying, now I understand your 'Frust' (German for frustration :)

But you're right: Cmd /A (at least here) does NOT convert to ASCII. I started using /A some weeks ago (in some CMD invocations only), but saw no improvement nor any ASCII output in generated files.  I didn't investigate further, and thought it was due to my lacking of knowledge about Code Pages.
Anyhow, good to know that Cmd /U produces (Unicode) ASCII-readable output.
