Yes, but it is not mandatory.
ZTW.HLP says, %#ZTLine% is the number of the top line (of the viewed area), or the number of the selected (=highlighted) line if Line mode is active.

The difference gets more obvious if you set CO-5F "Search Hit offset" to an amount greater than 0% (my favorite is 50%).
You can even call your Editor to open the viewed file 'on' the highlighted line.
(e.g. UltraEdit: start UEdit32.exe "%1/%#ZTLine%")

Correct. AFAIK you cannot call ZTreeMenu from Viewer (but eXecute, see above).
And if you leave Viewer, #ZTLine is reset to zero.
