Laurent,

You are correct. But for some reason, I've had difficulty using Alt-O for MS Word files. I've therefore used Alt-E for a long time -- which worked fine with Word 2007 using: "C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Office\Office16\WINWORD.EXE" as CO-B. It no longer does with MSO 2016 Pro.
I wonder if the "root" subdirectory has anything to do with this problem?
