Biggest difference I can see is that when moving directories, you might be changing the source set of files and directories. So you'd need to make sure one is not contained within another, or all kinds of problems will ensue. Data loss is a real risk if this isn't done in the right order, and determining what that order should be can be very tricky.

Copying doesn't have this issue, nor does deleting.
