[Tip] What day of the week is it today? (nircmd speak)   [Tip]

This may resonate with some: at least once I week,
I find myself wondering what day it is - Wed or Thu?
I usually know when it's the weekend, but is it Sat or Sun?

Since retiring, there are fewer hints as to where
I am in time; the routine takes its toll. OK, by the end
of January, there is little guessing as to which year
we're in, and I'm somehow handling the months :-).

This post is actually about the wonderful nircmd

collection of tools, so this is my solution to the above
question, using the speak command:

nircmd speak text "~$currdate.dddd$ ~$currdate.MMMM$ ~$currdate.dd$"

The command will say "Friday, March 5th", for example. You
can also specify the volume and speed of the spoken words.

I used AutoHotkey to bind it to a global key; you can put the
above line in a .bat file, and define a hotkey for the
shortcut. I also have it as a ZTree's eXecute item, just
in case AutoHotkey is not available.
