I think I have found the cause, /ZB

My normal command line
"C:\Program Files\ZTree Windows\ZTW64.EXE" /KBR /M /Y /ZB /ZM /ZV%AppData%\ZTreeWin\%COMPUTERNAME%.ZLOG

As noted before, if the ZLOG file has the over length directory, the ZLOG file causes ZTree to crash at load time, which is why I previously suggested to not log over ZMAX_PATH directories to stop edge case issues.
Knowing that, my ZLOG file doesn't have that deep path testing branch logged.

As you are not seeing the issue, I presume it's something about my setup, so I do some testing with different command lines.

"C:\Program Files\ZTree Windows\ZTW64.EXE"
Can navigate to the over ZMAX_PATH directory

"C:\Program Files\ZTree Windows\ZTW64.EXE" /KBR /M /Y /ZB /ZM
"C:\Program Files\ZTree Windows\ZTW64.EXE" /ZB
BANG on the over ZMAX_PATH directory

"C:\Program Files\ZTree Windows\ZTW64.EXE" /KBR /M /Y /ZM
"C:\Program Files\ZTree Windows\ZTW64.EXE" /KBR /M /Y /ZM /ZV%AppData%\ZTreeWin\%COMPUTERNAME%.ZLOG
Can navigate to the over ZMAX_PATH directory

So the cause is /ZB
