Well, I did not try putting in a name of ABC.XYZ.LNK so I can't say whether both the .LNK and the .XYZ get stripped in that case. However, putting in ABC.XYZ.JUNK does create a shortcut file named ABC.XYZ.lnk -- If using a terminal .LNK winds up causing two levels to be stripped but using .JUNK only gets one level stripped, then that just makes it buggier in my mind...
