Have you tried
Ctrl-Left/Right - Scroll the display left or right 20 characters.

I am always happy to consider changes which do not affect the fundamental core of the program. Unfortunately, when it is more than a year since you have changed a program, it takes a while to get your mind around it - especially as TFC is not written in my programming style.
