I have no requirement for more than 999 (does anyone?).
Actually, I feel a bit mean raising a bug report on something that has probably been there for years, and only surfaced because I had finger trouble (my script has 60 lines, how I managed to get any beyond 999 I do not know).
The trouble is, that having created the problem, it was difficult to find out why my script was misbehaving. In the end I looked in the ZAM and worked the rest out from there.

I raised the 2 questions at the end more as an either-or.
Personally, 999 lines is enough, so I would say that it would be sufficient to prevent more than 999 lines being saved (i.e. if you can't see them in the editor, then they will be lost on saving).
Only consider increasing the limit to 9999 if that is easier.

Thanks, Alan
