Don't have a Win8 handy now, but I doubt it's done away with the console font and screen DPI choices, so the optimal size is not necessarily the same among users. My advice would be to Alt-F7 to full screen, Shift-? to check the "display info" cols/rows numbers, then divide those by 2 as a starting point to finetune further.
