Yes, that's what I want. However I thought I could start again after doing other things, rather than continuing from the last pattern.

I went back to 2.4.158 (as I happened to have a backup of that dir handy):

183 -
(In File Window)
Type ER and go to file starting ER
Down cursor
Type E and looks for file starting ERE

158 -
(In File Window)
Type ER and go to file starting ER
Down cursor
Type E and looks for file starting E

I'd like the second behavior
