I’m not all that familiar with macro’s, but I don’t think it’s possible to ask for input during a macro.

Why not switch the two actions?

Since [N]ew date selects the current date and time by default, merely having the macro press RETURN will set the selected file’s date to that. Or you could have it press [F6] just to make sure.

So [N]ew date, RETURN, [R]ename would be ‘n,RET,r’, if I’m not mistaken (I didn’t test it). If the macro ends there, you can then rename the file as usual.
