I've got UniversalViewer configured as my alternative viewer, which supports all the TotalCommander lister plugins.

It can do syntax highlighting if you've got a ‘preview handler’ installed which does that; you could check out https://github.com/RRUZ/delphi-preview-handler#important-note-about-installing-a-new-version. The ‘Delphi’ in the name refers to the fact that it was written in that language; it does highlighting for a lot of other languages as well.

The Lister plugins functionality was never tested very thoroughly, and the entire ZAAP was never really properly completed.

Unfortunately, I just haven't got any time to spend on it (drat those lovely kids :-P) — and we've moved away from Delphi at work, so I'm finding it takes more time to 'get into it' even if I want to do some quick changes.
