Hi Laurent,
Use Bookmark Navigation (See section 1.3.5).
ZTree automatically keeps a list of the 10 most recent directories into which you entered the File Window. Press F11 to see the list.
Press [ (or Alt-Left) to immediately navigate to the previous directory or File Window, and again to go to the one previous to that, and so on.
Press ] (or Alt-Right) to navigate back to the more recent ones.
I use this constantly to navigate to previous and more recent directories and File Windows. Note that if you're in a File Window it will stay in the File Window mode as you navigate, and even remember if you were previously in a Normal or Branch File Window.
