ChatGPT will not replace other engines and sources of knowledge but more likely completes them.

1. Encyclopedic websites, such as Wikipedia, offer a vast array of information on a wide range of subjects, and are a valuable resource for users looking to gain knowledge on a specific topic without having a specific question in mind. These websites provide users with a general overview of a subject, including its history, key concepts, and relevant information. They are particularly useful for users who are new to a subject and want to gain a basic understanding before delving deeper.

2. Indexing engines, such as Google, allow users to search for information using keywords and phrases, and return results based on relevance and popularity. These engines are particularly useful for users who have a specific question or topic in mind and want to find the most relevant and credible sources of information. The results provided by these engines include a mix of websites, news articles, videos, images, and more, providing users with a wide range of options to choose from. These engines also have the ability to filter results based on date, relevance, and other parameters, making it easier for users to find the information they are looking for.

3. AI, such as ChatGPT, can understand natural language inputs and provide answers based on its training data, building on the strengths of both encyclopedic websites and indexing engines. It can also engage in a more interactive dialogue with the user to understand their intent, and provide more accurate and specific information, even for subjects on which the user may not have a specific question formulated. Additionally, it can learn from user interactions and improve its responses over time, and even provide insights or suggestions that the user may not have thought of. This makes it a powerful tool for users who want to gain a deeper understanding of a subject, and explore it in more detail.

(BTW, it's a 2-minute opinion "cowritten" by me and ChatGPT, me providing initial idea, and orienting later with questions and instructions, ChatGPt doing the final wording.
