The drives are different probably 90% of the time, so the color should be the same. Both panes pointing to the same drive is rare, at least in my case, so I would like to be fully aware of this.

Yes. I can best descirbe it as "Graft across drives". There is really no reason why an empty branch should stick around. I often move C:\NT or C:\W95 to some other drive and then have to clean up manually.
