After all it was just my fault, well, with support from the OS ;-).
I used the keyboard to move down the list of installed applications in the 'Add/remove programs' dialog. If you do that on Win2k and move down to the *last* entry then you only see one line with the name of the application but no 'Change/remove' button. You can see that the slider on the right has not reached the end but if you don't look at it... You cannot go any further with just the cursor keys, so without mouse it is not possible to remove the last application in the list. That's windows...
